COBRA Probe – High-Resolution 3D Flow Measurement
Fast-response, multi-hole anemometry for turbulent and unsteady wind flows, fully integrable with LabVIEW

The Surrey Sensors 7-holes COBRA probe is a fast-response, multi-hole anemometric system designed for high-resolution, three-dimensional flow measurements in turbulent environments. Featuring seven pressure ports at its tip, the probe captures the local pressure distribution of the incident flow, allowing the reconstruction of instantaneous velocity magnitude as well as yaw and pitch angles through a dedicated calibration procedure. Thanks to its fast dynamic response, the probe can sample at up to 800 Hz, resolving rapid velocity fluctuations with high accuracy. The system includes on-board electronics and is coupled with a dynamically calibrated pressure tubing system for precise acquisition of the pressure signals. Its compact design and low aerodynamic interference make it ideal for highly unsteady and complex flows, while the integrated interface, LabVIEW-based, allows seamless control, data acquisition, and real-time monitoring. The COBRA probe is therefore particularly well suited for wind engineering applications and detailed near-field flow characterization in urban, experimental, and research contexts.
