STUDYING AN HISTORICAL ROOFING
Year: 1998-2000
This represents one of the first contracts of the Centre and also the largest roof unsupported by columns in Europe In August, 17th 1756, the roofing of the Palazzo dell Ragione was destroyed by a violent wind-storm, a rare case in which a monumental Italian building did collapse under wind action. To have an insight on the wind-induced load on it, a wind tunnel campaign was commissioned to determine the pressure field accounting for eight turbulent wind directions.
